Is this for me?

Have you got an idea for how Earth observation (EO) data can solve a problem, but aren’t sure how to work out what type data is right to use? Do you find navigating the EO data landscape confusing and frustrating? Are you ready to finally get some clarity on how to make the most of EO data for your service?

This session

This masterclass has been designed to help you move from a general understanding of EO data capabilities, to a clear method of identifying what type of data is right to address the challenge you are trying to solve. It’s not always about the highest resolution, the fastest revisit, or the most in-depth analysis, it’s about the right data to provide the right insights to your users.

At the Satellite Applications Catapult, we employ a User Centred Design (UCD) approach to space enabled service development, putting the user at the heart of product, technology, or service design in order to de-risk its development. It’s this approach that we use to help people determine the right type of EO data for their application, and we want to share it with you.

In this interactive online class aimed at UK businesses, members of the Geospatial Intelligence Team from the Satellite Applications Catapult will combine presentations with interactive tools, to help you frame your understanding of the challenge you are solving into a set of clear requirements to navigate the EO data landscape, and the commercial considerations of how you shape your service.

Why are we doing it?

Our mission is to grow the space sector, and that means growing new space businesses. To this end, and in partnership with the UK Space Agency, the Satellite Applications Catapult is excited to be launching a series of Space Technology Innovation Masterclasses, where sector experts will share tools and techniques for designing with space technology and support you to explore these using your own services as examples.

Keep an eye out for our other classes in the series, starting with taking a user centred approach to better understand the problems you are trying to solve, to focusing on understanding your place in the in-orbit economy supply chain, and leveraging connectivity to ensure your data service can be delivered to anywhere!
