As part of a five-year £152million IPP programme run by the UK Space Agency, this report has been drafted by Caribou Space on the critical role of the space industry in addressing challenges relating to disaster resilience in emerging and developing economies. This report highlights the insights provided by IPP in relation to space technology applications to solve environmental and societal challenges. Developing countries are disproportionately impacted by natural disasters in terms of damage and affected population, a proposed solution outlined in this report utilises Earth Observation data to reduce these impacts and improve disaster resilience.
