The Satellite Applications Catapult, an independent innovation and technology company, has committed itself to the Government’s ‘Your Life’ initiative, which is part of a national effort to encourage greater participation amongst young people – especially women – in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Driven by a desire to be a world-leading technology and innovation company, the Catapult has embraced a pioneering, agile, collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, through which great results are being achieved by its diverse workforce.

The Catapult’s commitment to ‘Your Life’ is already evidenced in several areas, with 30 per cent of its workforce being female, including the CFO/COO, Antonia Jenkinson. Additionally, the company employs an outreach and engagement manager jointly funded with the National Space Centre, and helps drive the SPiN (Space Internship Network) programme which enables undergraduates to undertake summer placements in the UK space Industry.

Antonia Jenkinson, commented: “We have a number of outstanding women in our business, and are incredibly proud of our current position, which clearly demonstrates our commitment to ‘Your Life’.”

“Through this initiative we have pledged a series of additional activities to inspire the next generation of talented people in to the space sector. These include providing opportunities for staff to undertake outreach and volunteering activities; participating in the Women’s Engineering Society’s National Women in Engineering Day; sponsoring and attending the WISE Awards event and expanding our existing outreach and career inspiration activities targeted at women.”
