Space Commercialisation Engine: FAQs

How can I apply?

The application form is downloadable from the website. You will have to complete it and forward it to sce@sa.catapult.org.uk.

Can I talk to someone about my application before completing the form?

We would be happy to discuss your application before you complete the form. Please send an email to sce@sa.catapult.org.uk and the team will get back to you as soon as we can.

Can I use my own consultants to develop my service/products?

The support programme is delivered by the Space Applications Catapult and, although the project may work with academic institutions, it will be managed and delivered by the Catapult staff.

How often are the Call deadlines and where can I find them?

The programmes is a rolling call schedule. The calls close on the last day of each calendar month. However, please note that you may submit your application at anytime and we will process it as soon as practical.

What is the value of the support?

The exact value of the support by the Catapult depends on the details of the work requirement but it is region of £100,000. For more details, please speak to one of the delivery team.

Will I have to pay something?

The programme will require an in-cash contribution from your company. The amount will depend on the project and the size of your company. For more details, please speak to one of the delivery team.

Will I have to provide In Kind Contributions?

This is a major element of the support.  We would expect the company to provide a level of In Kind Contribution to allow both parties to share thoughts and work in all the important areas; business strategy, market need analysis, design and technical development of the proof of concept and additional elements of the project.

This is a very important element of the programme as one of the main objectives is to transfer skills and experience from the Catapult into the company.

Is this support considered as State Aid/Subsidy Control?

It may come under the Subsidy Control rules. As these rules are still in some degree of flux, this question will have to be considered at the time of the support.  Currently, Subsidy Control is the responsibility of the company to manage.

How will IP be managed?

This will be managed on an individual project basis and will be discussed when we are putting the proposal together.

Can this project be kept confidential?

The details of the support will be kept confidential but in due course the Catapult will require permission from the company to be able to summarise the project and its impacts in its own publicity.

How long will the project last?

This obviously depends on the project but we estimate in the region of 3-6 months for most of the projects.
