Skills for Space – CEMAST Open Day

15th October 2021 13:30

Skills for Space – CEMAST Open Day

Friday October 15th 13:30-15:30

The South East is home to over 450 space-related companies, employing over 10,500 people. Industrial capabilities cover the full range of activities across space manufacturing, space operations, space applications and ancillary services resulting in a thriving community making significant contributions to the UK economy.

The future of the UK space sector is bright but we need to inspire and train the next-generation of space technologists, scientists and engineers to ensure industry has access to the very best talent.

Fareham College’s Centre of Excellence for Engineering, Manufacture and Advanced Skills Training (CEMAST) is a £12 million pioneering state-of-the-art facility with industry-leading workshops, technology and equipment, providing students with a unique and industry standards training environment. Training hundreds of apprentices, the CEMAST team prides themselves on working with employers to create industry-leading training and already have experience of training future Space Engineers.

Working in partnership with CEMAST, we invite you and your business to attend our Skills for Space Open day. After presentations from the UK Space Agency and CEMAST there will be opportunities to explore the facilities and meet the team. Join us and find out how CEMAST can work with you.

Please note that this is an in-person event. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. On-site car-parking is available.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to us at victoria.may-chamberlain@port.ac.uk. For more information on our work and events please follow our Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.

The South Coast Centre of Excellence in Satellite Application is one of three regional centres located across the UK, created to help businesses explore and exploit satellite technologies to truly realise the ‘possible’. Our mission is to develop collaborative projects; link expertise; identify and attract funding; share information and provide network opportunities. Based at the Technopole in Portsmouth, we host the region’s Space Enterprise Lab, an innovation space for use by businesses to connect and collaborate.
