Now is the time to explore, experiment and innovate

By on

These are certainly unusual times, as we move from our standard face-to-face daily working interactions and embrace a plethora of virtual and online platforms to conduct research, innovation and business activities. The continuing surge in global coronavirus cases has resulted in millions of us taking refuge at home connecting with friends, family and co-workers with tools from the likes of Slack, Zoom, Google and Microsoft. There is also a huge number of us now hooked on catching up with the latest data and updates to make sense of the crisis and its impact on our lives. Willing or not, we have been thrown into the digital, data-driven world.

There are so many challenges posed by Covid-19, not just from a healthcare perspective. We are seeing disruption to global supply chains of manufactured goods. There is a wave of scamming and phishing attempts. Internet traffic is at unprecedented levels as we work, socialise and entertain ourselves from home. The rapid changes to our environment are becoming apparent as worldwide travel grinds to a halt. Every aspect of our society is transforming, and with that comes opportunity.

Open data resources are vast and widely available. Now is the time to explore, experiment and innovate. Perhaps you can create a new solution for the post-coronavirus world. With that in mind, here are a handful of resources to get you started…
