News & CommentEventsThe South West Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications is based in Cornwall with the University of Exeter as the lead delivery partner. The centre partnership also includes Falmouth University and the University of Plymouth.
The region has strong expertise in space technologies and satellite applications, including Goonhilly Earth Station, Spaceport Cornwall and the Aerohub Enterprise Zone. The Met Office sets a global standard for Earth and Space Weather observation and science, and we also have a robust network of local, national and international universities and research centres.
Specific research in highly relevant satellite application areas includes: eHealth & eWellbeing, Marine & Maritime, Mining and Natural Capital.
Regional Innovation Centres engage in award-winning knowledge transfer programmes (Exeter: SetSquared, Falmouth: Launchpad). Local Enterprise Partnership specialisations for future Sat Apps development include: Space & Aerospace, eHealth, Natural Capital, Marine and Digital Economy. Consequently, the LEPs are directly supporting future investment in Sat Apps businesses.

We are interested in hearing from businesses and SME’s already in the space sector but also from those which have the potential to work in the space and satellite sector but have not yet investigated the market opportunities.
