Could you host a micro-internship?

By on

Falmouth University is looking for businesses in the space sector to become part of their project-based student Internship Scheme.

They are inviting local, regional and national businesses to partner with them to create a 30-hour internship over a 2–6-week period. Students will work on dedicated projects for the business helping your team launch new initiatives or sustain existing work that requires short-term commitment.

Wondering what kind of projects they could take on?

Some examples of the types of work students could undertake in 30 hours ranges from content creation, market-analysis, logo design and branding, to photography, editing, copy writing and research.

RealWORKS Micro-internships supports our students from underrepresented groups in helping them gain valuable industry experience whilst in their studies. Below are the facts around the scheme, and details on how to register your interest:

  • An internship is 30 Hours – A student is only able to work for maximum 15 hours per week on their internship during term-time
  • A company is eligible for up to two internships per-year (60 hours in total)
  • Open to all students (UG, PG, on-campus and remote learners)
  • Internships can be remote, face-to-face or a hybrid of these
  • Students will be paid at the Real National Living Wage rate (currently £9.50 p/h)
  • The University will provide payment to students upon completion of the internship and will invoice companies for remaining funds per agreement.  Academic sign-off will be part of the approval process
  • The internship should incorporate a project or clear deliverables that the student will complete and be useful for students applying for their first graduate-level role

Business Funding

Below you will see the chart outlining funding based on company size. This applies to the registered company as a whole. Falmouth University can clarify with you the exact payments for your company.

Type Definition Funding Cost to Employer
