In-Orbit Service and Manufacturing(IOSM) – Andy Bradford

Andy Bradford is an experienced and proven leader with 30 years’ experience in the space industry in the UK and Europe. He has significant Programme Management, Director and Board Level Experience at SSTL where he was Director of Engineering. Andy has hands-on end-to-end satellite system experience both as an engineer and manager.

Andy is an expert in IOSM and technical expert to Astroscale across the UK, Japan, US and Israel. He was acting CTO during the startup phase up to 2019 and Head of Programmes, providing oversight and technical steering primarily of the ELSA-D space debris removal demonstrator mission and other Astroscale projects and initiatives.

Andy has an extensive network and is a well respected member of the international satellite community. His experience includes extensive knowledge of systems engineering processes within an LSI and particularly with respect to ESA programmes, including Galileo, for which he was responsible for the payload delivery by SSTL. Andy has also been central to the UK’s launch programme, supporting the development of the original business case and developing launch system and spaceport operation concepts globally.

Andy is on the board of three upstream space startups and acts as a technical and business adviser to many space companies in the UK. He is a former chair of the UK’s Access to Space Working Group within the UK National Space Technology Steering Group. Andy held a variety of director roles whilst at SSTL, working closely with the UK space SME community, including as director of special programmes, director of engineering and director of projects.
