Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) – Andy Grey

Andy Grey is a space expert with PNT specialism in both the upstream and downstream. Andy was an engineer on the Galileo IOV satellites whilst at Astrium (Airbus DS) in 2008. He since worked with downstream PNT applications as a management consultant with Mott MacDonald, including in telecommunications networks and utilities.

Andy joined the National Physical Laboratory as space strategy lead, supporting  developments in both space-based and indoor positioning, and time dissemination and synchronisation networks. He worked to ensure NPL’s continued role in the Galileo programme and contribution to sovereign PNT systems. Recently Andy has been acting as a technical advisor to UKSA on the Space-Based PNT Programme (SBPP). Andy is a member of the Royal Institute of Navigation and develops tools for evaluation of upstream PNT systems in support of downstream applications and use cases.

Andy works closely with a variety of SMEs in space and adjacent sectors. He is on the board of 5 startups in science & technology. Andy established Grey Consultants to work with SMEs and pre-seed startups, providing specialist but accessible business support services and investment.
