Space Research and Innovation Network for Technology (SPRINT) Open Competition

The SPace Research and Innovation Network for Technology (SPRINT) is pleased to announce the release of its first Competition: the SPRINT 2020 Open Competition. This Competition seeks to promote UK space sector growth through the commercial exploitation of space data and technologies by enabling collaborations between UK space SMEs and universities not already in the SPRINT network (see Partners for a list of universities already in the SPRINT network).  The budget available is £250k, with additional funds expected from the industrial collaborators. We intend to award up to 5 projects within this competition.

Applicants who wish to collaborate with SPRINT universities should contact us directly.

Full proposals are due for submission by 12 noon on Friday 20th March 2020.

Applicant’s Briefing

There will be an Applicant’s Briefing by telephone conference from 10:00am – 11:30am on Wednesday February 26th 2020 to provide more information about the competition and to provide an opportunity for general questions. Although attendance is optional, you are strong encouraged to join this meeting. If you wish to participate in the Applicant’s Briefing then please email a request, stating your name and organisation, to by 17:00 hrs on Monday 24th February 2020.

Notification of Intention to Apply

Applicants are required to notify SPRINT of their intention to apply by email to, using the pro-forma, by 17:00 on Friday 6th March 2020.
